Knowledge Test
To get a Washington State driver license, most drivers will have to pass a knowledge test. Please see

What to expect

There are 40 questions on the test. You must get 32 or more right to pass the test.
How to prepare
Be sure to study the Washington Driver Guide to prepare for the test. All the information you’ll need to pass the test is in this guide. You may also want to try the practice test to get an idea of the types of questions you’ll see.

What to expect
The driving test measures your ability to drive legally and safely. An examiner will ride with you to evaluate your driving to see that you maintain control of your car and obey the rules of the road. The examiner won’t try to confuse you, trick you, or ask you to do anything illegal. Your driving will be scored during the entire test.

How to prepare
Review the above videos provided by the Department of Licensing and Practice, Practice Pratice. A minimum of 50 hours behind the wheel is required for teens to obtain their intermediate license. The following link will assist you in preparing for the test and inform you of the requirments

Eligibility
Applicants must have met the following requirements to schedule a skills test:

Are at least age 16

passed an approved driver knowledge test

successfully completed a traffic safety education course licensed by the DOL if under 18

Parental consent also required if under 18

Skills Test in applicant vehicle: $50 ($35 for previous students)
Skills Test in ASDS vehicle: $70 ($55 for previous students)
